Our friends Clyde and Sue stopped by to meet the new pup and reminded me of the truest of truisms: you can always tell who loves dogs and who just says they do (who doesn’t love dogs, right?) The “says they do” will –upon meeting the dog– bend carefully from the waist and gingerly pat the dog on the head before asking if there’s “someplace I can wash up.” Real dog lovers almost always get down on the floor with dog, oblivious to slipper and dog hair.
We’ve been taking photos of the new pup (and each other) for several days but this is our first group photo.
Riley is home. She and Hattie got along great, right out of the chute. More photos tomorrow.
One of these pups is Riley. In a couple of weeks she’ll be part of our little family.
We don’t know which one is “Riley” yet because the breeder picks which puppy goes to which family. A first for us but probably makes more sense than trying to pick from sixteen equally adorable puppies. We got our first look (and touch) today at the “puppy party” the breeder threw for the new families.

Riley and her litter-mates are getting acquainted with the kennel. Won’t be long now.
Riley and her litter mates are making the transition from mom to food-in-a-bowl. Seem to be getting the hang of it. This coming Saturday we’ll get our first hands-on look at the pups.
The pups are moving out of their “rat-like thing” stage and starting to look like cute Golden Retriever puppies. I believe the plan is for us to visit sometime after five weeks and bring Riley home at eight weeks. Eventually we’ll be able to post a photo and say this is Riley.
