Never really doubted Hattie would welcome the new pup but nice to see them starting to play after only a few days.

Riley
Riley is home. She and Hattie got along great, right out of the chute. More photos tomorrow.
Riley litter: Five weeks
We don’t know which one is “Riley” yet because the breeder picks which puppy goes to which family. A first for us but probably makes more sense than trying to pick from sixteen equally adorable puppies. We got our first look (and touch) today at the “puppy party” the breeder threw for the new families.

Snow Dogs
Barb took the dogs out a few times to play in the snow and as you can see from her video, they love it. Here’s Hattie with her beloved blue ball.
Hattie and Lucy “fighting”
This is why we’ve had two dogs for so many years. They love to play. Lucy is making the transition from being the younger dog and Hattie is the same pain in the ass (to the older pup) that Lucy was.
Hattie meets Jack
This morning Barb took Hattie to her first play date with Jack, a German Short Hair.

Lucy: Red Ball
Red Ball is a simple game. Someone (with opposable thumbs) throws the ball and Lucy runs madly after it and brings it back. And repeat.
Lucy loves playing ball more than anything (rawhide chews and rolling on dead animals a close 2nd and 3rd). She can do it for hours, with periodic trips to our faux creek to cool off.
As we play this game, I wonder if there’s anything in my life with such a high joy-to-effort ratio. Nothing comes immediately to mind. Except Red Ball.
Lucy and Ripley enjoy the snow
Our two Golden Retrievers love the snow. Lucy, the younger dog, cannot contain her excitement .
